About

Retired art teacher

I am a retired art teacher. I tried to teach my students the value of handmade arts and crafts. I always took in items that I purchased to enhance my cultural art lessons. While not all children were going to grow up to be great artists - they all could appreciate art and BUY ART. I have one son who also appreciates art. He has several works of art that I made for him proudly displayed in his home. We also share a passion for fish-keeping. We both have large freshwater aquariums. My son also has a saltwater aquarium. My husband teaches high school English and has many art prints in his classroom.

Thank you Gusti! I love my Mystery Cat. She has joined my Storyteller Horse who arrived a couple weeks ago. Once I got my horse, I knew I needed a friend for "her" (I know, you designed the horse as a he - but she is clearly ME). My husband agreed and told me to order the Mystery Cat right away. Why wait till a birthday or Christmas? I wonder what kind of mischief they are getting into now (smile)? They sit proudly on my antique dresser. I did buy some batik fabric from Bali so I could make some cloth bodies for them. I thought about cutting up my Ikat dress for their bodies, but I have had too much fun wearing it again (It has been fun telling folks why I am wearing the dress again, too). The dolls will be very fun projects! You have already done the hard part for me (smile). The Mystery Cat has her very own Worry Doll from Guatemala (of course, Fair Trade). She likes it. Blessings, Judy Decker
