I inherited a dairy farm with 246 Holsteins at about the same time I graduated from law school. Being a dairy farmer is not what I had really intended. It is hard work, but I realy like being part of the land and growing plants and raising animals. I am helped by a lot of other workers, mostly by members of a religious group called Mennonites. My milk is now 100% organic and it is sold mostly in the New York City area. The Mennonites think they are doing God's work by caring for the land and the animals, and producing good clean pesticide-free milk for people to drink. I think I agree. Running the farm is an economic struggle, but I get financial and management help from the grocery store chain that markets my milk (Wegman's). I'm having a good time in spite of myself. I like Novica's products because they are made the same way I produce milk - with care, mostly by hand, with compassion, close to the earth, and with the help of God.
