I just received a suar wood carving by Wayan Cakra, and I am stunned by its beauty and richness of detail. The small statuette, about 8 inches tall, is called "Sunbathing," a figure of a cameleon. The skill and pride of artistry is outstanding. Cakra has managed to capture the movement within the grain of the wood, as well as a personality within the face and body language of the creature. I sincerely hope he will have the time and vision to continue his carving, because he could have an outstanding future. I, for one, will watch for anything new from him. Also, I was extremely impressed by the care with which the sculpture was packaged for shipment. Thanks to Cakra and to all of you at NOVICA!
