My husband is a college professor. We have been married 44 years. Both of us grew up on farms. We have four children, three daughters and a son. We have four grandchildren, girls 12, 10, and 7, and a grandson who is 9. The grandson and the youngest granddaughter are adopted from Korea. Our son is a high school physics teacher; our daughters are a technical journalist, a lawyer, and an environmental engineer. I was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mother until they were in college. I have a college degree in chemistry and a graduate degree in environmental health. I volunteer as a parish visitor for our church. I enjoy reading, hiking, bicycling, and watching birds. I like to knit and sew. I am a thyroid cancer survivor. My favorite charities are Doctors without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. I belong to a local Christian church and participate in its women's organization. My favorite types of music are classical and Celtic.
