I live in Massachusetts and work with nursing home residents as an Activities Director. I love my job! It is hard, challenging and very rewarding. My degree is in music therapy and I use music (piano/guitar/sing) as entertainment & as a therapeutic intervention. When I reach and connect with a person who has Alzheimer's, through music, it gives me much joy. I see the whole person, tap into who he/she really is - I don't just see a diagnosis. That is something a person has - it is not the entirety of a person. I love all kinds of music, cats and the color purple. I joke that I'll be that eccentric old woman wearing purple clothes, with many cats who sings all day. There are worse things! I don't know a lot about other cultures but am very curious. I value those who look for commonalities & respect others, rather than focus on and view differences w/ fear and hate. There is much beauty in people and in the world but too few of us take time to learn & appreciate. Maybe 1 day
