My wife Consuelo makes magnificent quilts. So we have one room that serves as her studio and one room that serves as my library. I work as a volunteer researcher at our local museum. I also chair a committee that designs courses for retired persons. I teach English as a second language to a class that includes a Mexican, a Chinese, a Brazilian and a Russian--all finding one another at the northern edge of the Chihuahuan Desert. Both my wife and I volunteer at the local hospital. When we travel, we seek out artisans, especially weavers and makers of baskets and ceramics.
